Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has garnered praise for steering his team to a commendable position this season, especially considering the notable departures of star players during the summer transfer window.
Despite the challenges posed by key transfers, including the likes of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea and Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool, De Zerbi has showcased tactical prowess in extracting the best from his squad.
Albion's ability to cope without key names reflects positively on the Italian tactician's managerial acumen. The Seagulls' strategic approach to player sales has been evident in recent years, with departures including Leandro Trossard, Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma, and Ben White.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, this trend is expected to continue. In an exclusive update to CaughtOffside's Daily Briefing column, the Italian insider didn't disclose specific names but emphasized that Brighton might part ways with other stars if lucrative offers materialize.
“This habit of cashing in on their top players for a profit will always be their system, at least this is what they want to do,” Romano said.
“It’s still early to know what they will do in the summer in terms of players to sell, but the expectation is to have some more ‘big name’ available for the market… but only in case they receive really crazy bids.
“It’s too early to mention names for now, but perhaps in the coming months it will become clear which players are a priority for elite clubs in Europe, and then we’ll see what kind of money Brighton demand.”
