Brendan Rodgers provides Jonny Evans injury update ahead of Leicester's FA Cup final vs Chelsea

Leicester City and head coach Brendan Rodgers are hopeful that Jonny Evans will return to fitness in time for the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday. The Foxes have been without the defender for the past two games after a heel injury became too painful for him to bear. Pulling out of the game against Newcastle just before kick-off, Evans was then in the stands at Old Trafford on Tuesday as City beat his former side Manchester United to take a big step towards Champions League qualification. Speaking in his post-match press conference, Rodgers said: “We’re just going to assess it over the next few days. “But he’s very determined to be out there at the weekend for us, so we just have to assess that over the next two or three days. The health of the player is most important. "We’re hopeful. He’s a warrior, Jonny, he’s a tough guy. Sometimes you can have an injury and play with it, but this is one where it’s at the bottom of his foot and he can’t put pressure on his foot.” As Cengiz Under was not in the squad, 18-year-old Tawanda Maswanhise selected on the bench instead, there were questions over whether the on-loan winger had picked up a knock, but his absence was purely based on selection. When asked if there was a reason for his omission, Rodgers replied: “Yes, he wasn’t chosen.” Source- LeicestershireLive  Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
