Benfica have shared a statement on Enzo Fernandez amid growing interest from top European club following Qatar 2022.
After Argentina became champions, Fernandez has been attracting interest from several top European clubs as Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham are reportedly eyeing the 21-year-old.
Fernandez made 7 appearances for the World Cup 2022 champions in which he scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist and was named 2022 FIFA World Cup Young Player.
Amid the rumours, Benfica shared a statement. The statement as reported by Fabrizio Romano reads: “We insist saying that our intention is to keep Enzo here until the end of the season.
“Benfica clarify that our president Rui Costs never spoke to DAZN about the situation of Enzo Fernández”.
Fernandez's contract with Benfica expires in 2027.
