Atletico Madrid ready to launch stunning bid for Arsenal star after Kieran Trippier ban

Atletico Madrid are reportedly eyeing a bold bid to sign Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles in January. The 23-year-old appeared on the verge of completing a move to Wolves in the summer transfer window before Arsenal pulled the plug on a deal for the versatile defender. According to Sky Sports News, Atletico Madrid have been keeping close tabs on Maitland-Niles’ development over the last 12 months and could test Arsenal’s resolve for the youngster this winter. Diego Simeone is determined to strengthen his squad and boost Atleti’s title hopes for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign and Kieran Trippier’s suspension has intensified the club’s search for defensive reinforcements. Trippier has been slapped with a 10-week worldwide ban from football and a hefty £70,000 fine for breaking betting rules. The 30-year-old denied seven of the alleged breaches but four were proven in a personal hearing and the England full-back will be absent for Atletico Madrid’s next 12 games.
