Ashley Cole agrees with Andy Robertson about Ben Chilwell as Chelsea close in on £50m transfer

Chelsea are closing in on their third transfer of the season. The Blues secured the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. Frank Lampard has been keen to bring in a new left-back this summer, with Ben Chilwell emerging as the top target. Various reports claim that the England international is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge next week, with an agreement of a fee around £50 million-plus add ons being close to being reached between the two clubs. The verdict from another former England and left-back makes exciting reading for Blues fans. “I would love to see him at Chelsea,” Cole told talkSPORT back in December. “He’s doing really, really well at Leicester. He’s enjoying the way Brendan plays and his system; he’s got that licence to attack. “When he’s played for England he’s played well – in his last game he got three assists. He’s shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend. I think he’s quality and I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here." The comments from Cole are in line with a claim that Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson made when asked to name his top three left-backs in the world last week. “Ben Chilwell I love watching in the Premier League,” he told BT Sport.
