Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for AC Milan and England center-back Fikayo Tomori, with Mikel Arteta targeting the former Chelsea defender to bolster the team's defense in 2024, according to FootballTransfers.
The standout Milan performer is also on Bayern Munich's radar. Despite external interest, Milan are reluctant to part with Tomori due to his significant contributions.
An advantage for Arsenal in pursuing Tomori is the player's affinity for the club, being a fan and expressing admiration for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. In a 2023 interview, Tomori revealed Henry was his childhood idol, stating, “Thierry Henry was my idol when I was playing for my Sunday league team. I always used to have gloves on, and pull my socks over my knees.”
English defender's connection with current Arsenal player Bukayo Saka adds to the appeal. The pair shares a bond over their Nigerian heritage, and Tomori has praised their families' interactions during games.
“If I had to mention some of the players, then Bukayo Saka would be one. We both have Nigerian heritage, and I don’t think many people know this, but our names mean the same thing in Nigerian but are just spelled differently,” said the 26-year-old.
