Martin Odegaard answered questions on his long-term future on Sunday, after making the first start of his loan spell at Arsenal. Odegaard is only on a loan deal with Arsenal, without an option to buy.
Arsenal will reassess his situation in talks in the summer, but ultimately it will be up to the player and Real Madrid. Guillem Balague recently claimed there’s little-to-no chance of Odegaard joining Arsenal on a permanent deal.
“You never know what is going to happen,” Odegaard admitted. “For now, I am just focusing on doing my best this season and helping the team as much as possible.”
The midfielder made a positive full debut at the weekend, and he says everyone at Arsenal has helped him to settle in.
“It’s a bit different but I think I am adapting pretty okay,” Odegaard told Arsenal.com. “The way they took me into the team – my teammates – and how they treated me, as well as the manager and everyone in the club, they helped me since the first minute.
“I feel really comfortable and a part of the team, so it’s been easy to come into this team because of the way they are and the way they treated me. I’m just really happy to be here and I’m proud to be a part of this team.”
