Arsenal legend David Seaman has urged the club to stick by Mikel Arteta, despite the squad's latest poor performances.
Gunners have recorded just one win in six Premier League matches this term and are currently sitting in 14th place in the league table. Meanwhile, there have been suggestions over Arteta's possible sacking, following the club's 2 - 1 defeat to Wolves last weekend.
However, Seaman thinks Arsenal chiefs need to give the Spanish boss time to build his own team.
"Overall, I’ve been impressed with Mikel Arteta," he told
The Target Men Podcast, brought to you by Football Index.
"When he first signed for Arsenal, I thought it was a big risk because it’s his first job and it’s a big job.
"After Emery and the latter years of Arsene, we weren’t getting any better, so for Mikel to take over was a tough ask.
"At the time I thought Patrick Vieira might have been a better choice because he’d already had experience, but after I saw Mikel’s first press interview, I was really impressed.
"Since then, I like how he’s affecting the team, but he needs to be given time from the board to make it his own team.
"The game against Wolves showed that Arsenal are still lacking in confidence and a clear idea of what is expected of them."
