Following the 21-year-old's recent impressive performances, Premier League giants such as Liverpool and Manchester United are keen to get the player's signature in the future.
Therefore, the Magpies legend has urged his former club to enter the race for the midfielder.
Speaking to Match of the Day, the pundit was asked if he’d welcome the starlet to St James’ Park, he admirably said:
“Absolutely, yes. See if he wants to play against Bournemouth on Tuesday night!”
The Argentine would potentially cost €100million due to the release clause in his current contract with the Portuguese side.
