Alan Shearer believes Manchester City are the only side Liverpool will face for the Premier League title this season.
The Reds will be on action against Everton this weekend, following the club's shocking 7 - 2 defeat to Aston Villa. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues have been criticised for their recent form, after being defeated to Leicester City with a 5 - 2 score.
However, Shearer thinks Liverpool and City are the main contenders to reach the league title for the 2020/21 campaign.
"As I sit here, I don’t see anyone other than Liverpool or Man City for the title,"
he told the Athletic.
"What I do see as an exciting race this season is the battle for the top four. I think it will be more intense than ever.
“Mikel Arteta has made a great start at Arsenal. He’s got a clear philosophy.
"That club needed changing and he hasn’t just gone about it slowly.
"He’s made a lot of progress in a very short space of time. Signing Thomas Partey for the midfield will only add to that.
"Chelsea have made some big signings and it will be good to see how they get on once Frank Lampard has worked out what his best XI is.
"I think he’s still working that out after all the changes they’ve made. Leicester will be battling for the top six again.”
