Former Premier League manager Alan Pardew has suggested that Jose Mourinho would eagerly accept an offer to return as Chelsea's manager due to his strong ties with the club.
Pardew made these remarks on TalkSport, emphasizing Mourinho's history with Chelsea and his potential willingness to come back if given the chance.
Following Chelsea's recent 4-2 home defeat to Wolves, speculation surrounding Mauricio Pochettino's future as manager has intensified. The loss, coupled with fan discontent, has led to discussions about Pochettino's position within the club.
Reports indicate that another defeat could spell the end for Pochettino, prompting considerations for potential replacements. Mourinho's name has emerged as a popular choice among supporters, with Pardew suggesting that Mourinho would readily accept the opportunity to return to Chelsea if approached.
While Mourinho has enjoyed success with Chelsea in the past, recent managerial appointments have not met expectations. Additionally, some fans may have reservations about his tenure at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Despite this, Pardew believes Mourinho would prioritize a return to Chelsea if given the chance.
“Listen, Jose Mourinho won’t care about [the issues]. If he gets the phone call [from Chelsea], he’ll be walking back in," the pundit said, via Chelsea Chronicle.
