Arsenal's Ben White faced another omission from the England squad for the upcoming international fixtures against Ukraine and Scotland.
The Gunners' star was excluded from Gareth Southgates' calling list since his return home during the last World Cup in December.
White has been one of the most outstanding defenders in the Premier League this season and if the coach's selection was based on the players' quality, then the 25-year-old should have been on the list.
Adrian Durham, a talkSPORT journalist, suggests that there might be underlying factors influencing Southgate's decision, hinting at a more complex rationale than what initially meets the eye.
"It is a conundrum, isn’t it? Because he is playing for one of the best teams in the country. He is performing for one of the best teams in the country. He is versatile, can play centre-back or right-back. He can even play in midfield.
“I think there has not been enough transparency here, maybe for good reasons as well." the journalist stated.
