The 5 Arsenal players who need to impress Unai Emery to save their place

Arsenal started their pre-season training on Monday in Singapore under new coach Unai Emery. The Spanish coach will do everything to reach the best result in the coming season and will expect mush from his 25-man squad. However, there will be players who will need to impress most before Arsenal  head back to Europe to continue their pre-season plans. We have distinguished 5 players who need to do their best during this period.
  1. Mesut Ozil
The German player with Turkish roots will now need to concentrate on the club football after making headlines over his international retirement and photo with Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan that caused a massive scandal.
  1. Bernd Leno
Leno, who was signed for close to £20 million this summer, will have to perform to the very top of his level if he is to make sure he is in the starting XI. Leno needs a strong start to his career with the Gunners to be sure of lining up against Manchester City at the Emirates. The fact that his transfer cost a lot of money to Arsenal doesn’t mean that Leno will be be Arsenal No.1 next season.
  1. Lucas Perez
No-one’s place is safe anymore but Emery wants a closer look at the forward, as he has included him in the 25-man squad while some other players have been left behind. So Perez will know that should he really want to prove he has what it takes to make his mark at Arsenal, he needs to have a very strong pre-season, starting this week in Singapore.
  1. Calum Chambers
Emery rates the English centre-back highly and Chambers has already been handed a new deal this summer. With Laurent Koscielny still injured, the obvious choice would be Shkodran Mustafi - but Calum Chambers could certainly prove his worth with some pre-season displays.
  1. Emile Smith-Rowe
Smith-Rowe is massively rated by everyone at the club and he has made a big impression on Emery already this summer. Should he impresses enough , he will play not just for the early cup games but for the Premier League as well.

PSG go for Tottenham defender Vertonghen and Chelsea’s Rudiger
