Emiliano Sala campaign raises £130,000 to fund private search as Arsenal's Koscielny, Gundogan, Rabiot and Payet donate

Football stars raise money for a private search for missing footballer Emiliano Sala. The campaign has raised £130,000 from almost 2,000 people in just a matter of days. Adrien Rabiot has donated €25,000. Several other footballers, including Arsenal captain Koscielny and Manchester City midfielder Gundogan and ex-West star Dimitri Payet also donated large sums to boost the total. A message on the web fundraiser, which carries the Spanish language hashtag #NoDejenDeBuscar Emiliano Sala and means ‘Don’t Stop Looking for Emiliano Sala’, said: “This fund was created in response to the urgency of the situation and the authorities' decision not to pursue the search. One fan who donated €20 wrote: “Emiliano, if there’s only the slightest hope I’m donating €20 euros for the resumption of the search. “You are in my heart and I want to help your family find you in any way I can. “Whatever happens, you will always be in my thoughts. You are a great footballer and a wonderful person. “Hoping to see you back on the pitch again soon. Good luck my friend.”
Sala, 28, and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, disappeared from radar as they flew over the English Channel on January 21.
