Edouard Mendy speaks out after making Chelsea debut in Tottenham penalty defeat

Chelsea newcomer Edouard Mendy says he is ‘sad’ about the Blues' loss to Tottenham on penalties in the Carabao Cup, but is ‘honoured’ to have made his debut. Mendy was one of the several signings Frank Lampard's side made during the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Rennes for £22 million. Reacting to his debut on Instagram, Mendy said: "Sad about Tuesday’s score, but honoured to have played my first game for Chelsea. Let’s keep working."
