Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward wants to make one signing before making a call on the next permanent Old Trafford boss, but it will not be on the pitch.
Woodward reportedly wants to get a director of football.
RB Leipzig’s Paul Mitchell is the front runner.
Woodward was previously interested in former Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta and current Old Lady sporting director Fabio Paratici.
However, Marotta transferred to Serie A rivals Inter Milan and Paratici made clear his plans to remain in Turin, that in turn has left Englishman Mitchell at the head of the line.
