Ed Woodward 'admits he made a mistake' signing one Manchester United player

Manchester United's vice-chairman Ed Woodward has privately admitted that he regrets the signing of Alexis Sanchez, according to The Sunday Times. Sanchez moved to Manchester United last January with Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading to the Emirates in a straight swap. After signing a four-and-a-half year deal, the 30-year-old become the Premier League's best-paid footballer. However, the Chilean has failed to provide successful performances for the Red Devils, has suffered injuries and has been left out from the squad under ex-boss Jose Mourinho. He has made 42 appearances and has scored only 5 goals for the Old Trafford club. Woodward is understood to feel he made a mistake in handing Sanchez such a lucrative deal and he will be ready to sell him in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Woodward would like to reject David de Gea's long-standing request for a pay rise.
