Dimitar Berbatov urges Manchester United to make key transfer decision this summer

Dimitar Berbatov believes Manchester United need more quality in their squad. United have suffered 2-1 defeat to Sevilla in the semi-finals of the Europa League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men lost three semi-finals this season to leave the United boss still searching for his first silverware since taking charge. Berbatov believes Old Trafford chiefs need to add more strength in depth for this to change. The former United favourite said (via MEN) : “The defeat showed that United need to strengthen. They need a centre back for sure. Midfield and up front seems to be okay. Paul Pogba looks likely to stay and I would like to see Scott McTominay get back in the team. But United need more depth. Ole made his first substitution very late in the game against Sevilla when things weren't going well. It does show he trusts his first eleven a lot, but maybe it shows he doesn't trust his bench so much.” Berbatov admits he is baffled as to why McTominay has found himself struggling for game time: "I find McTominay's situation really strange. He is fit and ready, he got his contract extension, but then he doesn't play? “Is it because (Nemanja) Matic and Fred play really well? I'm not so sure, but I like him a lot, so hopefully he can pick up the pace next season and get back into the team. There will be lots of games and they need to have the squad to be ready.” Source: MEN
