Didier Deschamps slams Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte after choosing Spain over France

France head coach Didier Deschamps has predicted Aymeric Laporte's words on changing the national team to Spain would be "lies." The Manchester City defender decided to change his citizenship from France to Spain so that he can play football on the international stage, as he wasn't receiving callups from Deschamps. And the wait didn't take too long. Spain head coach Luis Enrique called up Laporte to the La Furia Roja for the upcoming Euro 2020. Speaking about the incident, France boss said: "What makes me uncomfortable is what he might say, and that's a lie. The only message I received from him was in October about a situation regarding an injury. He hasn't played for us? It could've happened, ten seconds would've been enough. He's always been in the list of players, but there's been competition. We considered him in November and March, and this time. Leaving him out is not a mistake, it's just my decision. I wish him the best. He's free to make that choice."
