Dejan Lovren handed ban for row with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos

Liverpool defender Lovren has received one-match international ban from UEFA which means he will miss Croatia's first Euro 2020 qualifier against Azerbaijan in March. Lovren accused Ramos of showing a lack of respect after Spain's 6-0 Nations League win over Croatia in September but there was already bad blood between them following the Real Madrid captain’s controversial challenge on Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final. In November’s return fixture in the Nations League, Lovren was captured on an Instagram live video goading the Spanish goading the Spanish after the game, which Croatia won 3-2, and suggesting he had elbowed Ramos on purpose. UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body charged Lovren for the next UEFA national team competition for which he would be otherwise eligible.
