David Ornstein provides update on Bruno Fernandes new contract situation at Manchester United

David Ornstein has provided an update on Bruno Fernandes' new contract situation at Manchester United. The Portuguese professional has established himself as a key player at Old Trafford, while his display against Aston Villa at the weekend was another proof of it. United felt Fernandes deserved an upgrade on his salary and offered a new deal in late autumn, which was turned down by the player and his representative. The 27-year-old is "looking for parity with the squad’s leading salaries given his importance to the team". According to The Athletic journalist, their sources say the negotiations are expected to resume in May when the situation at the club becomes clearer. Ornstein has added that United are under no pressure to resign Fernandes, with the attacker's current deal set to expire in June 2025 with an option for a further year.
