Rio Ferdinand has opened up on Virgil van Dijk, claiming the Liverpool defender is growing in the role of a leader at the club amid more pressure.
The Reds' star captained the team against Leicester City on Thursday. He played a big part in the club's 2 - 0 win over the Premier League rivals.
“He was class today. At United, you get to a point where you start to become a leader. It brings something else out of you," Ferdinand said on
BT Sport’s Premier League when speaking about Van Dijk.
"Top players deal with pressure. He grows in that role, he deals with pressure. He will become a leader.”
After the Leicester win, Liverpool remain in 2nd place in the league table with 51 points. Their next opponents will be Burnley on Sunday.
