Chris Smalling in awkward situation as Roma become frustrated with Manchester United

Roma are becoming angry with Manchester United as negotiations over a permanent switch from Chris Smalling rumble on. Smalling spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Roma, making 37 appearances for Paulo Fonseca’s side and appearing to rediscover his best form. Regardless, head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has deemed the 30-year-old surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, meaning United are keen to offload him permanently in the summer transfer window. Roma want to sign him on a permanent basis and have therefore been locked in talks with the Red Devils, who have set an asking price of £20million. However, according to the Daily Mail, the Italian outfit are growing frustrated with United amid their failure to reach an agreement. It is claimed they are ready to consider alternative options for Smalling, who has been left in an awkward predicament. Roma are looking to add another centre-half to their ranks before their opening Serie A fixture away at Verona this Saturday. As a result, Fonseca and co are prepared to turn their attention elsewhere should a move for Smalling fail to gather pace over the next few days. Source- Daily Star Join us on Telegram
