Chelsea target Premier League key performer in bold squad strengthening move

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, looking to exploit the financial challenges facing the Magpies.

Fichajes suggests that Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing the Brazilian midfielder to bolster his midfield. Due to ongoing financial fair play (FFP) issues at Newcastle, there's a likelihood of them having to offload key players, and Guimaraes seems poised to depart the club.

Despite the Blues' surprising lack of activity in the January transfer window, they are hopeful of making additions, especially if they can generate funds through player sales.

Conor Gallagher is a subject of recent transfer speculation, with a potential move to Tottenham in the cards, as the West Londoners reportedly demand close to £50 million for the English midfielder.

If not in January, a transfer in the summer window appears likely as the Englishman enters the final year of his contract. The Magpies' FFP concerns may necessitate the sale of the 25-year-old midfielder, potentially triggering a domino effect with other players also departing.

Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in securing Guimaraes' signature. Acquiring the Brazil international would require a substantial financial commitment from Chelsea, who have previously made significant signings like Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. T

he potential departures of players like Sean Longstaff and Alexander Isak, linked to Arsenal, could contribute to balancing Newcastle's financial books.

Under manager Eddie Howe, the club have spent approximately £400 million, and recent penalties imposed on Everton, including point deductions, have made the Magpies' leadership cautious and concerned about the club's financial standing.
