Chelsea squad numbers available for Kai Havertz with Stamford Bridge transfer ‘close’

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old is wanted by several clubs across Europe but the Blues look set to win that race. According to The Athletic, Chelsea have emerged as the only club willing to meet their £73million price tag, after add-ons. Havertz is said to be keen on a move away from the Bundesliga club and made the decision after they lost the German cup final to Bayern Munich. Express Sport take a look at the squad numbers the playmaker could wear should he move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Number 10 Willian is expected to leave the club and should that happen, Havertz could take the No 10 shirt. But the number also could be offered to Christian Pulisic. Number 29 At Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz wears the No 29 shirt. That’s currently occupied at Chelsea by Fikayo Tomori. But with the young centre-back impressing at Stamford Bridge, he could get an upgrade. That would pave the way for Havertz to take the No 29 jersey. Number 11 Pedro is set to leave Chelsea for AS Roma and his No 11 shirt will become free. But besides Havertz, Chelsea could also give it to Timo Werner, with Tammy Abraham occupying No 9. Number 8 Reports have suggested that Chelsea could look to sell Ross Barkley this summer and should that happen, the west London giants could give Havertz the No 8 shirt. Source: Express
