Chelsea set Christian Pulisic asking price amid Liverpool interest

Liverpool, as well as Barcelona, are reportedly interested in signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea. The 23-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2019 after the Blues struck a £58million deal with Borussia Dortmund in January that year. Pulisic has made 83 appearances under Thomas Tuchel and his predecessor Frank Lampard, scoring 19 goals and registering 14 assists. According to El Nacional, Chelsea want to sell the USA international, with Liverpool and Barcelona keen to capitalise on his lack of opportunities by securing a cut-price transfer. The Blues will demand €50million (£42m) for Pulisic, which is £16million less than they paid Dortmund over two years ago. The Catalan outlet adds Barca manager Xavi would like to strike a swap deal for the player or wait until 2023 to sign him, by which time there would be one year remaining on his contract. On the other hand, Liverpool do have the financial power to meet Chelsea's demands at this stage and Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of Pulisic, who joined Dortmund's academy while he was manager in early 2015.
