Chelsea defender David Luiz wants to force a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to
L’Équipe top transfer reporter Hugo Delom.
The Blues are poised to agree on the sensational sale as the Brazil defender is understood to have been at war with the club.
A deal worth around £8million is expected to be agreed ahead of Thursday’s 5 pm deadline.
Chelsea have confirmed Luiz did not train with the first team on Wednesday but reject claims in France that he went on strike amid escalating tensions at their Cobham HQ.
Speaking ahead of the Europa League final against Arsenal, Luiz was full of praise for head coach Unai Emery.
“
Unai came [to Arsenal ] to try to build a new philosophy and to try to gain the trust of the players, from the fans, from the club,” Luiz declared. “I think he has been doing an amazing job.
“I had the opportunity to work with Unai for a few months. He’s a great guy, a great coach, a great person. He’s passionate. He loves his work. He likes to build teams who are spirited, play with passion and you can see that. He has had the opportunity to work with a lot of young players and I think they have understood his philosophy.”
