Chelsea provide injury update for Edouard Mendy ahead of Southampton clash

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is set to miss the Premier League clash against Southampton, after picking up a thigh injury. The keeper joined Frank Lampard's side from French club Rennes during the summer transfer window. He has made his debut for the Blues in the Carabao Cup penalty shootout defeat against Tottenham, later playing in the club's 4 - 0 league win over Crytal Palace. The good start was interrupted by a thigh injury Mendy picked up during his international duty with Senegal. Now he is set to undergo tests on injury and could be out of action for at least 10 days. Chelsea confirmed the keeper's arrival back in London ahead of Friday night's match against Morocco. "The Senegalese Football Federation has announced the withdrawal from their squad of Edouard Mendy due to injury. "The goalkeeper sustained an injury to his right thigh during training on Wednesday and had a medical examination in a hospital in Rabat, where Senegal are due to play Morocco tonight. "Mendy has since returned to Chelsea where he will undergo further examinations." Frank Lampard will now face a choice between Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero for the upcoming clash.
