Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas admitted that club captain John Terry’s summer exit news came as a shock.
John Terry will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, after spending 22 years with the Blues. Chelsea will have to appoint a new permanent captain, as John has been captaining the team since 2004.
‘It came as a surprise,’ Fabregas told talkSPORT.
‘There was a lot of talk and speculation that it could be his last year but we didn’t know for sure. It is a very personal decision between him and the club.
‘It is a shame because I cannot see anyone replacing the role he does in the team. He is irreplaceable for now.’
