Chelsea plan to sign Chilwell after £54m Werner deal

After securing a deal of Timo Werner, Chelsea are in talks with Leicester to sign Ben Chilwell, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. The left-back wants to join Chelsea and he is aware that Frank Lampard wants to see him at the club. Meanwhile, Nicolás Tagliafico is on Chelsea list as an option if Chilwell deal will collapse. Unlike the deals for Werner and Hakim Ziyech, Chilwell's deal is complicated due to the absence of a release clause. The club need to negotiate a fee with Leicester to bring him to Stamford Bridge next season, according to Goal. Chilwell is under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2024. Yet Leicester rate Chilwell as even better than Harry Maguire who they sold to Manchester United last summer for a world-record fee of £80million for a defender. Source: Fabrizio Romano
