Chelsea make breakthrough over new Willian contract

Chelsea are confident of agreeing on a new deal with Willian by the end of the week, according to reports. The 31-year-old agreed on a short-term deal to remain for the remainder of the delayed Premier League season but his contract with Chelsea is due to expire this summer. Willian has been holding out for a three-year deal from Chelsea but the club are only willing to offer a contract for the next two years. However, Sky Sports report that Chelsea have made a breakthrough in negotiations and are hopeful that a deal could be finalised by the end of the week. The Brazil international has been one of Chelsea’s standout performers this season and played a key role in helping Frank Lampard’s side secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
