Chelsea are reportedly confident of completing a deal for Edouard Mendy today. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues submitted a new bid to Rennes this morning. The bid for the 28-year-old has been accepted by Rennes. The deal will be completed in the next days, while the goalkeeper will fly to London to have medicals soon.
Frank Lampard’s side will ‘consider a move for Declan Rice’ after signing Edouard Mendy. West Ham’s star midfielder, who is valued more than £80million, has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. It’s claimed the Hammers don’t want to sell, however, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea could be about to test their resolve.
Jose Mourinho spoke about Chelsea’s summer spending spree at his Tottenham press conference today.
He said: “The other day Jurgen [Klopp] was saying Liverpool wasn’t a club of oligarchs and a club that belongs to countries. We are the same. So we are not the kind of club that can go to the market and spend a fortune on players. We are all working hard, I want to make it very, very clear, to get good balance and that good balance would be to get one more striker.”
Chelsea have rejected bids from Inter Milan for midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to The Guardian. Inter have tried to tempt Chelsea into a deal that could include either Marcelo Brozovic or Christian Eriken going in the opposite direction.
Olivier Giroud has agreed on a deal to join Juventus, according to Sky Italia. The Chelsea striker, a January arrival from Arsenal in 2018, was an integral part of Frank Lampard’s first team during the second-half of last season but reports in Italy now suggest he could be on his way.
With Ben Chilwell joining and Marcos Alonso valued for his contribution in the final third, Emerson could be on his way out at Stamford Bridge.
Napoli could lead a Serie A contingent to bring the former Roma star back to Italy, report Sky Sport Italia. His signing at the San Paolo would depend on Faouzi Ghoulam leaving, with Wolves previously linked with the Algerian.
