Chelsea may be without Ben Chilwell until 2022 after he underwent tests on the injury he sustained against Juventus on Tuesday night.
The left-back was withdrawn during the second-half of the Blues’ 4-0 thrashing of the Italian giants and was eventually replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta.
Chilwell had to be helped off the pitch by medical staff after sustaining the problem and appeared to be in serious pain as he departed the action.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, head coach Thomas Tuchel said:
“It worries me because he was in such a fantastic moment, like Reece on the other side. They were in the best shape they could possibly be. So strong, full of confidence, and quality.
"He was in a lot of pain and now he feels a bit better. We will have the medical examination tomorrow.”
But according to
The Telegraph, the England defender looks set to be ruled out for at least the rest of the year, with a decision on his fitness for the remainder of the campaign not expected to be made until at least January.
Chelsea will miss Chilwell, who he has become a key performer in Thomas Tuchel’s system.
