Kai Havertz appears to be closing in on a move to Chelsea. The Germany star has missed Bayer Leverkusen's pre-season fitness tests on Sunday. According to Bild, the midfielder completed mandatory coronavirus tests on Friday and Saturday, which he needed before joining up with the German national side next week, but was not involved in preseason fitness tests on Sunday. Bild suggest Havertz's switch to Chelsea was edging closer, however, while fellow journalist Fabrizio Romano added it is "just a matter of time" before the Germany international will join Frank Lampard's side after an agreement was reached a week ago. Chelsea are close to agreeing on a deal in for Havertz, in which they could pay an initial £70million plus further add-ons potentially in excess of £15million.
