Chelsea boss Frank Lampard tipped to make ruthless transfer decision after Sheffield United loss

Owen Hargreaves believes Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday will lead to Frank Lampard making some "ruthless" decisions in the transfer market. Chelsea's top-four hopes are out of their hands now following the shock defeat to the Blades. The club have already looked to improve their front line ahead of next season having signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. But Hargreaves believes Lampard will now want to make some drastic changes to his defensive unit in the transfer market as well. "I think he learned that he's going to have a different defence next season and potentially a different goalkeeper," he said on Premier League Productions. "For Frank being as young a manager as he is, he's probably one of the best in terms of his interviews after the game. "He's honest. He praises but he's also critical when he needs to be. That was a huge blow to him, I don't think he saw that coming. Frank made it to the top because he was ruthless, he worked hard and he made decisions when he had to. He's done it as a manager and I think that will show him that he needs to do something different defensively next season personnel-wise." Source: Express
