Chelsea boss Frank Lampard looks set to lose Jorginho when the transfer window reopens. The Italy international has endured two underwhelming years at Stamford Bridge after signing from Seri A giants Napoli for £50million in the summer of 2018.
The 28-year-old has struggled for form and has been frozen out by Lampard since domestic football resumed. And Chelsea are expected to cut ties with Jorginho when the transfer window reopens. Juventus currently leading the race for his signature.
Therefore, in Billy Gilmour, Chelsea may already have the perfect replacement. The Blues expect big things of the 19-year-old, who has made four Premier League appearances during his breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge.
He’s not started a match for Chelsea since the 4-0 defeat to Everton in March, with Lampard mindful of giving him too much too soon. But he retains the backing of his manager nonetheless.
