The Champions League rule change which will effect Manchester United and Manchester City

Manchester United and Man City will both be affected by a UEFA rule change which will see VAR introduced in next season's Champions League competition. Manchester City were controversially knocked out of last year’s Champions League by Liverpool at the quarter-final stage after match officials wrongly ruled out a goal in the second leg, as well as the suggestion Liverpool’s early opener in the first-leg should not have stood due to an offside in the build-up. Manchester United might have similar feelings towards the proposals after they were knocked out of the 2012-13 campaign by Real Madrid after a contentious red card for Nani saw the tie turn on its head.
