Carney Chukwuemeka has broken silence after his appearance in the Manchester City clash and Steven Gerrard's comments.
Chukwuemeka came off the bench for the final 23 minutes of the match and was close to equalize only a few minutes after his entrance into the game.
It was the youngster's first appearance since last week's rumours of a potential contract stand-off between the 18 year-old and Aston Villa.
However, Gerrard commented on the situation at a press conference earlier this week.
"We believe this is the right place for him and if anyone else thinks it’s not I’d like to sit in front of them and discuss that because he’s a local lad and he’s enjoying it," said the Villa boss.
"He’s enjoyed the last two weeks – I spoke to him face-to-face and we’ve told him that if he keeps performing he’ll be very much part of the first team set-up so I don’t foresee a problem and I certainly don’t want a problem to brew in the background.
"And, for me, I don’t think it will."
The midfielder then posted on Instagram after the City game with this caption:
"Wasn’t meant to be. God's timing. We go again."
Some of his teammates including Emiliano Buendia, Jacob Ramsey, and Jaden Philogene Bidace all sent messages of support under his post.
