Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed it was "absolutely normal" that Andre Gomes lacked intensity on his first start after a long term injury.
The 26-year-old has suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle during the Tottenham clash back in November 3.
He was back to the Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday for the first time since being out of the game.
Gomes was replaced with seven minutes to go, and Ancelotti was pleased with his performance.
However, the club boss expects the player's full form will return in time.
He said:
"Andre Gomes did a good performance. He didn’t show a lot of intensity but that is absolutely normal. He will improve step by step, game by game."
