Carlo Ancelotti explains why curious Bernard pattern has developed at Everton

Carlo Ancelotti has explained his idea behind a curious quirk involving Bernard since he was appointed as head coach at Everton. The 60-year-old took over the Toffees towards the end of December following the sacking of Marco Silva earlier that month, with Duncan Ferguson taking temporary charge until his arrival. Meantime, some have noticed an interesting trend in the way Bernard has been used by Ancelotti. The 27-year-old winger has started five matches under his new manager, but only one of those has come away from home. He begun the 1-1 draw at West Ham in January but was taken off at half time. The Brazilian has been showing good display at the Goodison Park, but, most notably scoring a great goal against Crystal Palace last month. The Blues boss has explained the thinking behind his decision, while admitting that he is a big fan of the winger. "I know really well all of the players, I know their qualities and also their defects," said Ancelotti "Maybe, for the fact, that at Goodison we have more possibility to control the ball, he is really good with the ball and he did really well against Crystal Palace where he scored the first goal. "When the game is in balance, it is more difficult for him to prove his quality. When we have control of the game, for him it is easier for him to prove his quality. Maybe for this reason, I put him [in the team] at home and not away. "He doesn't have to convince me, I am already convinced he is a good player and helpful for us." The Toffees are back to action on Sunday, as they travel to face Chelsea before facing Liverpool at home a week later. Source- Liverpool Echo
