Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands open up on their relationship at Everton

Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti have spoken about the daily relationship they have at Everton. The Toffees director of football made the move to Goodison Park in the summer of 2018, bringing an eight-year spell at PSV Eindhoven to an end, and since then has worked hard to renovate the club, including with his latest managerial appointment in December 2019. Merseyside club have seen increased form under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, picking up an impressive 17 points in eight Premier League matches, with the Italian already making an impact. In an interview with Premier League World, Brands said: "It's [Everton] a club with I think great potential, it's a club that's had some changes in the last year, and you saw the challenge. "I spoke with the owner, I spoke with the chairman and you got a feeling of 'ok, this is a club that fits me'. "I will never interfere in, let's say, talking about the starting 11 and that kind of thing - because that's his [Ancelotti's] job. "He's there all day working with the players on the pitch, I'm not on the pitch. Sometimes I see training, but there's a lot of other stuff I have to do. "So I'm always preparing and creating the environment for him so that he can work the best." Everton boss holds a lot of praise for the work Brands does at Goodison Park and believes the pair share the same long-term goals for the club. "The first impression was good, of course," Ancelotti remarked. "I think he is a humble guy, he has a lot of knowledge about football, about players. It's a pleasure to work with him. "We meet each other every single day, we are here together to work and try to improve the team and the squad. "I think it's important for a club to have a good technical director and everyone uses his personal character to have a relationship with other people. "The fact that he wants to know everything about players I think is good because everyone can see the technical ability of the player, but it's difficult to know the real character of the player. "This is one of the most important parts of recruiting a player and the fact Marcel has this kind of ability is really important for the club. "I think that we are working together to improve the team and the squad at this club. We are really focused there and we can use all our knowledge, and we have the same goal - that is to bring Everton to the top in England and in Europe." Source- Liverpool Echo
