"Can't see Tottenham buying him" - Alasdair Gold rules out a return for 'very talented' player

Alasdair Gold discussed former player Marcus Edwards and whether he could potentially return to Tottenham. The 21-year-old joined the Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes, ahead of this season and has caught the eye with his performances. The youngster also netted against Arsenal earlier this season in the Europa League In his latest Q&A session with Spurs fans, Gold answered a question from a Spurs fan asking if there was any possibility of Edwards returning next season, to which he replied: “The official confirmation of Marcus Edwards’ sale to Vitoria appeared to indicate that Spurs have a 50% sell-on clause for the youngster, perhaps in lieu of a prohibitive transfer fee. He also has a €15m (£13.6m) release clause in his contract. I can’t see Tottenham buying him back. It’s not really something they do and they struggled to get the best out of him the first time around. He’s a very talented young midfielder but he needs to make his way in the game now and show that he can be a star rather than a wasted talent. I really hope he does because he’s got all the ability in the world.” Source: Thisisfutbol
