Canelo Alvarez reacts to Oscar De La Hoya saying Gennady Golovkin would be ‘easy’ comeback fight

Canelo Alvarez has warned Oscar De La Hoya the boxing ring is a ‘different world’ to what he remembers. The 47-year-old has not boxed since losing to Manny Pacquiao in December 2008. De La Hoya has Gennady Golovkin in his sights and even admitted GGG represents an ‘easy’ comeback fight. “You know how easy GGG would be for me? Oh, my gosh. It would be a high-profile fight, that’s for sure. I always took a good shot and I always took apart fighters like him. In my mind it would be that easy. I would definitely consider it, that’s for sure.” Golovkin responded to De La Hoya’s claim by insisting he could ‘legally kill’ him in the ring. “You know Oscar, you know how dirty his mouth is,” he said. “Everything involving Gennady Golovkin for him is a nightmare. “He can say whatever. But let me put it this way – If I got an opportunity to legally kill a person in the ring, I might seize it.” Canelo, who beat Golovkin in September 2018 remained coy when asked about the war of words between De La Hoya and GGG. He told SiriusXM Boxing: “I really have no words for that. It’s very easy to say stuff, but once you’re in the ring, it’s a different world.”
