Bundesliga star opens up on Manchester United desire

Borussia Dortmund and Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji has revealed his desire to play for Manchester United in the future, having been a boyhood fan of the club. “Many know that Manchester United has been my favourite club since childhood," Akanji told reporters on Thursday. “It would be nice to play there. "I always want to go higher, as far as possible. But planning the future is difficult. You never know what happens. "But that’s not an issue right now. I am very satisfied with Dortmund, I want to win Borussia titles and compete with the Swiss national team in many more big tournaments.” Akanji has played every minute of Dortmund's 10 matches so far this season, with Favre's side unbeaten across three competitions thus far. "The coach gives me the confidence and gives me the freedom to open the game from behind. "On the defensive, I have to take more responsibility because, unlike last season, I'm usually the older of the two centre-backs. I like that. Ultimately, however, as before, I must above all bring my performance."
