Bruno Fernandes reacts to his poor first-half performance in Manchester United’s win against Atalanta

Bruno Fernandes has reacted to his poor first-half performance in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. The Red Devils were losing the game in the first half, however, second-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire helped equalise the score. Cristiano Ronaldo’s late winner handed the home side a desirable win. Fernandes delivered a woeful display in the first half despite providing a sublime pass to set up Rashford’s goal which sparked United’s revival. After the game The Portugal international defended his poor first-half performance by claiming that he needs to continue to play risky passes in order to create chances.
"It was one of those, you have to take a risk sometimes," Fernandes said.   "Sometimes I don’t take as many risks as I did in the first half when I missed many passes, but I have to try because I have to find my strikers.   "Sometimes I know the pass is difficult or the chance to get in is not quite there but I want to respect the movement of my strikers.   "I made the mistakes but give me best to help my teammates to score goals. We trust our best to give chances to our strikers.   "I know people expect a lot because we’re a big club, they expect us to perform at the same level, but sometimes the other team causes you problems."
