Brian Hughes bids for Gold Cup glory with Real Steel

VBET ambassador Brian Hughes will have just his second ride in the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup when he gets the leg-up aboard the Willie Mullins-trained Real Steel. On a big day for the jockeys’ championship leader, Brian also partners Navajo Pass in the JCB Triumph Hurdle. The three-time Cheltenham Festival winner will then try to win the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase with Mcgroarty. Read Brian’s exclusive thoughts on the final day of the Festival – only with VBET:

1.30 Cheltenham – Navajo Pass He’s a horse we think a lot of. He won his Grade Two at Doncaster and won it really well. We were impressed with him that day. He jumps and he stays and he won’t mind soft ground. He obviously has to improve in a race like the Triumph, but we think he can do just that. He’ll also enjoy the fast pace of the race.

3.30 Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup - Real Steel It’s great to pick a ride up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and great to ride for Willie Mullins. Obviously he’s one of the outsiders, but he’s had some really decent form in the past. Connections also believe the step up in trip will suit him. I’m really looking forward to riding him and hopefully, he also runs a big race. 4.50 Cheltenham – Mcgroarty   He’s not a horse I know a great deal about, to be honest, as I’ll be riding him for the first time. It’s nice to get the call-up, though. His best form is probably on good ground, but hopefully he’ll handle conditions at Cheltenham. He’s been a good, consistent handicapper and hopefully, he runs a big race.
