Brendan Rodgers speaks on Chelsea's interest in Wesley Fofana as the player was ruled out of matchday squad

Brendan Rodgers has opened up on the latest situation regarding Wesley Fofana amid the club exit talks.

Leicester City youngster has been heavily linked with the move to Chelsea, with the Premier League rivals reportedly offering £70m for him.

"There was an offer gone in and it's been rejected," the Foxes' manager said, via Daily Mail.

"Apart from that, I'm not 100 per cent on the other details, because we were focusing on the game."

Rodgers also explained why Fofana was absent from the first-team training and was left out of the matchday squad, saying:

"He's training with the Under 23s so he can get his football fitness and keep working. It's so important at this stage to control any sort of distractions that may be there."

Speaking on Fofana's situation, the manager added:

"Of course if it (him leaving) happens, the sooner the better, because it might allow us to do some work (in the transfer window)."
