BREAKING: Liverpool’s plans for Anfield rejected by local council

Liverpool’s new plans for Anfield have not been given the go-head in a major blow to the club. The Reds’ were waiting on a decision after submitting two planning applications in June. A green light would have seen Anfield play host to other sporting events - including high-profile boxing and American Football matches - as well as up to 10 music concerts each year. Objections raised by local councillors on behalf of residents include concerns about noise levels, parking and the fact that usually, those living locally enjoy the 'end to the season' period - which could effectively be lost if these extra events are held. The second application - which would see Anfield play host to around 10 music concerts a year - has been deferred, meaning a decision will not be made today.
