Brazil legend Pele depressed and refuses to leave his house

Brazil legend Pele is depressed and doesn’t want to leave his house because of his health.

Former Santos star’s son Edinho has revealed his father is currently struggling mentally. A year ago, Pele was taken to hospital with a urinary infection. Since the problems with hip have appeared, the legend started to need a frame for walking and has appeared in public in a wheelchair.

“He is very sheepish, reclusive,” Edinho told TV Globo (via BBC).

“Imagine, he’s the King, he was always such an imposing figure and today he can’t walk properly,”

“He’s embarrassed, he doesn’t want to go out, be seen, or do practically anything that involves leaving the house.

“He’s pretty fragile. He had a hip replacement and didn’t have an adequate or ideal rehabilitation. So he has this problem with mobility and that has set off a kind of depression.” he added.

Pele, who is considered by many as the greatest of all time, will turn 80 this year.
