"Both can win the Premier League': Former player drops bombshell claim on Tottenham and Aston Villa

The former goalkeeper Brad Friedel is stirring up excitement by suggesting that his former clubs Tottenham and Aston Villa could significantly impact this season's Premier League title race.

While Manchester City and Liverpool are considered the frontrunners, Friedel's insights hint at the potential for Spurs and Villa to disrupt the status quo in what's shaping up to be an unpredictable championship battle.

Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham kicked off the season with gusto, only to be slowed by a spate of untimely injuries, notably affecting star recruit James Maddison.

The Villais' remarkable finish in 2023, trailing only behind City in points, fueled hopes for a strong campaign. However, their momentum faltered as the new year commenced.

Despite the twists and turns, the title race remains wide open, with just eight points separating the Reds from fifth-placed Spurs. In an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport via LiveScore Bet, Friedel expresses cautious optimism, admitting that while a title win for Villa or the North Lodnon outit would be surprising, both teams possess the quality to vie for the crown.

"They're both in [the title race]. You see the points difference right now. Absolutely, they are," the 52-year-old claimed via Daily Star.

"I would say Liverpool and Man City have an advantage, especially a mental advantage because they have players that have actually, recently in their clubs won the Premier League.

"I would say that, it might be a little surprising if Villa or Tottenham did win the league, but it's clearly not out of the realm of possibility. And then you can't obviously count out Arsenal because they're a very good team as well."
